He doesn't want to see Santa

Scott informed me that he doesn't want to see Santa and tell him what he wants for Christmas this year. Instead, he wants to write him a letter. I was really worried that maybe he had started hearing rumors from his friends. I want him to believe as long as possible, but I'm sure his believing days are numbered. I didn't want to grill him too much and have him start asking me questions but, I did. Fortunately, it didn't take too much grilling for him to tell me why. He doesn't want to go to the mall to see Santa because it just takes too long and it's easier just to walk to the mailbox. Going to the mall really cuts into his playing time too (you know, he's always worried that he "won't have enough time to play"). Works for me! We won't have to make the dreaded trip to the mall for the other kids either. Kate would just scream if she had to sit on Santa's lap and John still doesn't get the concept of Christmas.
