Scott had an assignment to make a trap for a leprechaun. Being uncreative, I was racking my brain trying to come up with something that might be suitable. Fortunately, Scott came up with a great idea and his Leprechaun Trap was conceived. We used a #10 can with a plastic lid. He drew a rainbow and pot of gold and we glued it onto the can. I wrote 'There is gold in here' under the rainbow. We used chopsticks and toothpicks for a ladder and secured the "rungs" with glue and dental floss. We cut a small hole in the plastic lid and then cut the lid like a pizza out almost to the edge. He taped a few pieces of "gold" made out of construction paper to the plastic lid and taped the rest of the "gold" in the can.
The idea is that the leprechaun will be enticed and climb the ladder, walk toward the gold pieces on the lid, the lid will collapse and the leprechaun will fall in. I think it's a pretty good trap.
The only bad thing about it is that Scott thinks he's really going to trap a leprechaun . . . and it will do all his chores.
