Random Ramblings

Kate had her birthday last week and being the procrastinator that I am, and posting about events almost a week after they happen, i.e. Halloween, here is her belated post. We just had a family birthday, nothing too over the top. She loved her wrapped presents but was a little concerned when we started ripping the wrapping paper and ruining her presents. She got a doll house and really likes it. In fact, the boys liked it too and were getting mad at her because she was getting in their way. Kate scowled during the singing of the Happy Birthday song but thoroughly enjoyed the cake. I taught her how to hold 2 fingers up and say "2 years old" when she is asked how old she is. I can't believe she is 2! Which brings me to my next subject.

People have been asking if we are going to try and have another baby. The answer is yes. Although I still wonder if our family is complete with 3 kids. Sometimes I think having a miscarriage was a sign that I was done. Anyway, am I pregnant now? No. Will I try this month? Yes. Will I try next month? Yes. Will I try in January? Probably. Will I try in February? Possibly. Will I try in March? Who knows. Will I try in April? Probably not. I will just think I am done. Getting pregnant hasn't ever been hard for me so if it takes more than a few months, I will take that as a sign.

I got my hair cut and colored on Saturday. Let me say, that there is something worse than getting a boy haircut and that would be getting a chemical burn on your scalp from the color. My head started itching like CRAZY yesterday. After finding a blister on my ear and consulting my doctor (the internet - because you should totally believe everything on the internet), it would appear that that is what I have. Of course, there are some pretty horrible horror stories out there. People losing their hair, some permanently. Let me tell you, I would FREAK out if I lost my hair, even if it was temporary. I should have know there was going to be a problem when the stylist left the color on WAY too long. She kept blow drying the foils too. Oh, and there are no highlights in my hair like I wanted. I'm sure that's why she kept the color on so long, she was waiting for my hair to go lighter under the foils. It never did! It's not like I can go get it fixed immediately either. That would be like adding fuel to the fire that is on my scalp. Oh yea, and I don't love my haircut either. I couldn't decided what I wanted so it got really short, not boy haircut short but I do think that might be a better cut right now. Chalk it up to another lesson learned.

Next on the list. I decided to clean the fish tank on Saturday. I hate to clean the fish tank but The Dad told me he would help me because the tank was disgusting!! Of course, The Dad went to work on Saturday so it was all up to me. Our algae eater died a few months ago and since then, we have had MAJOR algae problems. I started taking some of the decorations out of the tank and the big decoration crumbled in my hands. So, I knew I would need to go to the pet store and get two things. A big decoration, probably $20 and an algae eater, $3. Think again - $65 later we have a really cool fish tank. We have a volcano, a glowing decoration and an algae eater, oh, and a very clean tank. We could have just gotten by with the algae eater but no. At least the kids love to look at it. It like it's brand new again.

Now, the potty training thing. It's going pretty well as long as I remember to take John to the bathroom every 3 to 4 hours. Bowel movements are few and far between even with a laxative because he refuses to go in the toilet so he holds it until he gets a diaper on at night and even then he is going every 3 to 5 days. Very bad, I know, but I can't make him go. It's bad enough that I have to remember to take him every few hours.

One last note. If you make banana bread, don't spoil it by putting rancid nuts in it. It won't be good, you will just have to throw it away and it will be a waste of your time.
